Chan Zuckerberg Initiative
Eric Hysen is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).3 He was sworn in as CIO on February 1, 2021, and on September 14, 2023, he was also named as the Department’s first Chief Artificial Intelligence (AI) Officer.3 In his roles, Hysen is responsible for aligning the DHS's information technology resources and promoting AI innovation and safety within the department.3
