Emily Mayfield

Emily Mayfield, with a background in Design Research and Development, boasts a skill set comprising generative design research, design thinking workshops, field studies, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, usability tests, heuristic evaluations, and surveys.

She possesses in-depth knowledge of research methods, specializes in methods fostering collective creativity, excels in photography and videography, and has basic coding skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python.

Emily is dedicated to a participatory design approach, involving people in the early stages of the design process to explore common needs and dreams. She explores various expressive methods for generative design research, sharing collective aspirations post-data analysis, with a focus on enabling people's creativity.

Her areas of interest include collective creativity, embodied interaction, documentary photography, and ethnographic fieldwork. Emily holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Design Research and Development from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Specialized Studies from Ohio University, concentrating on Visual Culture with a focus on Photojournalism and Art History.

Her professional experience includes roles at U.S. Bank as the Assistant Vice President of UX Design Research, as a UX Researcher at Kroger, a Design Research Consultant at Stratos Innovation Group, a Research Fellow at Srishti Labs, Srishti School of Art, Design, and Technology, and various positions at The Ohio State University and Office Team in Columbus, Ohio. She has also worked as a Special English Teacher in China.
