Emily Kunka
Emily Kunka is a Digital Transformation Project Lead at UCB, based in San Francisco, California. In her role, she leads innovative projects aimed at transforming healthcare delivery through high-quality digital products and solutions. Emily joined UCB in 2020 and has been instrumental in translating patient and caregiver needs into a digital vision that enhances patient experiences and outcomes.1
Before joining UCB, Emily worked at Science 37, where she was involved in virtualizing clinical trial design and democratizing trial access by focusing on patient-centric approaches. She has been a thought leader in decentralized clinical trials and hybrid trial models, which include conducting trials in patients' homes using telemedicine and in-home nursing services.1
Emily holds a Master of Science in Clinical Research from Northwestern University. Her interests include human-centered design, in silico medicine with a focus on AI and digital twins, immersive learning experiences such as augmented reality and virtual reality, domotics, and the internet of things.13
In addition to her work at UCB, Emily is recognized as an opinion leader in the digital transformation of healthcare, driven by her commitment to democratizing modern medicine. She has been involved in projects related to rare diseases, including developing software as a medical device for conditions like myasthenia gravis.23
