Emellie O'Brien

Emellie O'Brien is the Founder and CEO of Earth Angel Sustainable Production Services LLC, a pioneering sustainability consultancy that focuses on integrating environmental practices within the film and television production industry. Established in 2013, Earth Angel is recognized as the only consultancy of its kind on the East Coast, and it has worked with major studios such as Paramount, Sony, HBO, Disney, and Netflix, among others.

O'Brien has become a leading expert in sustainable entertainment production, contributing significantly to projects like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which was noted as “the most eco-friendly blockbuster in Sony Pictures’ history” due to her initiatives. She has authored a report titled “Going Green & Saving Green: A Cost-Benefit Analysis of Sustainable Filmmaking,” which was published by the Producers Guild of America. Her work has led to substantial environmental benefits, including the avoidance of over 8,500 metric tons of greenhouse gases and the diversion of more than 4,800 tons of waste from landfills.13

O'Brien graduated with honors from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Film & Television. She has been recognized for her contributions to sustainable practices in the industry, receiving accolades such as the 2018 Inc. Magazine 30 Under 30 Rising Star and being a Tory Burch Foundation Fellow. Additionally, she actively participates in workshops and speaks at film festivals globally, advocating for sustainable production methods.123
