Ellie C. Chen, also known as Helen L. Chen, is a distinguished research scientist working in the Designing Education Lab within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. Her illustrious academic journey includes an undergraduate degree from UCLA and a PhD in Communication with a minor in Psychology from Stanford University. Helen has made significant contributions to engineering education through various initiatives such as the Center for the Advancement of Engineering Education and the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter). She has also played an essential role in the Consortium to Promote Reflection in Engineering Education. As a co-founder of EPAC, an ePortfolio community of practice, Helen has actively promoted authentic, experiential, and evidence-based learning as a board member for the Association for Authentic, Experiential, and Evidence-Based Learning.
