Luis Soenksen, a medical device developer and healthcare entrepreneur, holds a PhD from MIT, a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology, and an MSc from Johns Hopkins University. With a focus on need-oriented public health, Soenksen specializes in the design and development of integrated instrumentation, imaging, embedded systems, control applications, and software for clinical use, working on projects concerning personal navigation systems, imaging post-processing tools, pulmonary embolism diagnosis, POC in-vitro diagnostics, electromagnetic wound healing devices, and more.

As a Ph.D. student, he worked in synthetic biology, wearables, organ-on-chip technology, and deep learning, while most recently he was involved in the development of a portable non-invasive white blood cell counter via spectrally enhanced nail fold optical flow cytometry and a deep learning application for melanoma screening. His impressive past experience includes roles such as Technology Transfer Officer and Research Fellow at MIT, co-founder at Salveo Vascular, and Application Engineer at National Instruments.
