Prior to this, Edwin honed his skills as a Senior Investment Manager at Participatiemaatschappij Vlaanderen (PMV) in Brussels, an organization dedicated to funding Belgian companies as they evolve from startup stages to international operations. From 2002 to 2006, Edwin functioned as an Innovation Advisor for Spin-off Companies at KU Leuven Research & Development. This role allowed him to play a pivotal part in supporting the inception and growth of over 20 KU Leuven spin-off companies through the Gemma Frisius Fund. His work not only contributed to individual company success but also reinforced KU Leuven’s commitment to transferring technology and innovation to the market.
Before 2002, Edwin's expertise was further developed during his tenure as a university researcher, focusing on high-tech entrepreneurship and science and technology policy. This academic background laid a solid foundation for his later ventures in investment and innovation strategy. He earned a Master’s degree in Commercial Engineering from KU Leuven, complemented by an MSc in Applied Economics from both Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration, and a Bachelor's degree from KU Brussel.
