Usher IT and Information Security into the modern age. Shed inefficient vendor-led services in lieu of committed staff focused on the people. Slashed budget within first 120 days (by shedding those costly vendors as well as disused and ill-equipped services). Implement Information Security programme complete with multifactor auth, SD-VPN, SSO, SIEM, regular audit & compliance. Built plans and procedures for Disaster Recovery, Incident Response and GDPR. Work with customer-facing side of the house to improve customer relations in the areas of Data Protection and Information Security (building customer confidence in Zemax). Refreshed the workstation fleet, migrated from on-premise, dated hardware base to AWS and Azure. Ushered Zemax into a remote-friendly, distributed workforce able to handle pandemic demands in 2020 and won a customer service award in the process.

Rebuilt struggling IT operation (personnel changes, severing ineffective outsourcing and services contracts). Cancel and remove wasteful spend; build new programs around Infrastructure (hybrid cloud between Nutanix on-prem and Azure), Information Security and Helpdesk. Source and enlist skilled ‘remote hands’ to support operations in Mexico, Japan, China and Malaysia.

Led IT and Facilities teams responsible for corporate technical operations. Created billable IT group that took on consulting engagements. Led efforts to successfully obtain ISO27001 certification. Led creation of in-house DevOps practice as well as CI/CD pipeline for code development.
