Mike Summers is an accomplished architect who still writes code. Summers has spent the last 35 years on the forefront of technology and has the scars to prove it. He began his career in architecture but found himself drawn to software by chance. Summers has designed architecture and components for multiple industries, including finance, solar power, and television broadcasting.

Currently, Summers works as a Principal Engineer at New Relic, a company that provides a cloud-based observability platform that helps teams build and operate reliable software systems. He has also held Principal Engineer positions at Intrax, MobiTV, and SolarPowerMe.

With a degree in Computer Science from Kansas State University under his belt, Summers has also been a consultant for companies such as Citigroup, Wily Technology, Persistence Software, Borland, and Expersoft.

In addition to his work as a Principal Engineer, Summers has also been a Contract Rails programmer, Contract APM Engineer, and Principal Consultant.

Summers enjoys interesting hard problems and is not afraid to tackle challenges head-on.
