Ed Sim

Ed Sim is the Founder and Managing Partner of boldstart ventures, a venture capital firm that specializes in partnering with early-stage, technical founders who are reinventing the enterprise technology stack. Established in 2010, boldstart ventures has grown significantly, managing assets totaling approximately $850 million today, starting from an initial fund of $1 million.12

Sim is recognized for his expertise in inception-stage investing, where he collaborates with founders even before their companies are formally established. His approach focuses on leading pre-product funding rounds and leveraging a network of early adopters to help develop innovative enterprise solutions. Notable companies he has backed include Snyk, BigID, and Kustomer, among others.23

Before founding boldstart ventures, Ed Sim co-founded Dawntreader Ventures and has a background in investing in seed and early-stage software and digital media companies. He is also a Harvard College alumnus, class of 1993, where he played varsity lacrosse.23 His contributions to the venture capital landscape have earned him recognition, including being named one of the top seed investors on the Forbes Midas Seed List for several consecutive years.2
