Eben Weitzman
Director, Graduate Programs in Conflict Resolution at UMass Boston
Eben Weitzman is a distinguished social and organizational psychologist with expertise in conflict studies, specializing in conflict within and between groups. His work encompasses organizational conflict, cross-cultural conflict, and intergroup relations, offering conflict resolution services and dispute resolution systems design to various public and private sector entities.
As an academic and practitioner, Eben founded and chaired the Department of Conflict Resolution, Human Security, and Global Governance at UMass Boston. He currently directs the Graduate Programs in Conflict Resolution at the university and serves as the Director of the Organizational Practice at The Mediation Group, delivering a wide range of conflict resolution and organization development services.
Eben is a core faculty member at the BOLD Center (formerly the Institute For Change) within the SEIU, leading conflict resolution initiatives. He also possesses extensive expertise in qualitative research methodology and has served as the Reviews Editor for the journal, Field Methods.
With a solid educational background that includes a Ph.D. in Social and Organizational Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, Eben also holds a BA in Political Science from Swarthmore College. His professional journey includes roles such as Grievance Officer for the Faculty Staff Union at UMass Boston and Senior Technical Consultant at The Mediation Group.
