Through a global network of organizations and change makers, cutting-edge digital tools, and a "people's house" headquarters, we will seek to catalyze the optimism and agency we all need to build a more peaceful and hopeful world.

Museum for the United Nations - UN Live

Charged with reimagining international engagement for the world’s largest museum, research, and education complex while serving as senior executive for programs spanning more than 150 countries. Entirely restructured office and approach, building one of the Institution’s most effective and successful teams.•	Led new partnerships with major organizations and foreign governments by repositioning the Smithsonian as globally relevant. Examples include the World Economic Forum, the Ministry of Culture of China, The United States Agency for International Development, The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and Yale University.•	Led strategic planning for Smithsonian Global, across a staff of more than 6,000.•	Proactively built new funding streams for Smithsonian global programs – from cultural heritage to climate change. Brought in more grant and contract funding to the Smithsonian than any other museum or program in 4 out of 5 years, outpacing next most successful units by 10-20 fold per employee.•	Led design and execution of a global thought leadership program. Spearheaded new global communications strategy.•	Senior leader of strategy for building the resilience of the world’s cultural and natural heritage. Managed work globally and in high-risk areas such as Iraq and Tunisia. Recent keynote addresses to UNESCO and the World Customs Organization.•	Developed opportunities to build Smithsonian’s global audience. Increased hands-on audience for Smithsonian programs by at least 16M/year over 180 countries at no cost to Smithsonian through creative partnerships.•	Designed new approaches to implementing Smithsonian mission globally. Designed and then managed numerous programs to advance cultural and scientific organizations by linking them directly into education reform, civil society, climate change and economic development agendas.

Smithsonian Institution

Director of International Relations

Advised museums, Ministries of Culture, and other organizations on a wide range of issues.  Led the Smithsonian in designing and incubating an international advisory service and training program, which built important global relationships and delivered profit back to the Institution. Key clients/success include:•	National Museum of Natural History. Led the Directors of Education and Exhibition departments to design a new approach to integrating work for all public outreach, now in implementation. Developed new business operating model for Education Department to better align diverse funding sources with a strategic plan and vision. For the museum Director, developed an international engagement and funding strategy for 80+ countries.•	Undersecretary for Science, Smithsonian Institution. Advised and collaborated with Undersecretary, Directors of science research centers, the National Zoo, and the National Museum of Natural History on how to build an integrated approach to global biodiversity conservation, now being implemented as “Conservation Commons.” •	Smithsonian Exhibits. Developed a new business strategy for Smithsonian’s centralized exhibit service, enabling it to deliver better quality services while building an investment fund for new technologies and staff.

Independent Consultant

Recruited to redesign and lead firm’s approach to building a portfolio of Diplomacy and International Development clients worldwide. After rapid success in turning around international approach, served as content and team lead in firm’s first engagement in the cultural sector internationally, partnering with the Smithsonian Institution. Highlights include:•	Served on senior leadership team to design new approach to museum governance and museum professional education for Abu Dhabi. Built relationships for the firm with the Smithsonian and clients in Abu Dhabi (ADACH) and the region, resulting in successful and profitable work. Supervised team of eight in best practice analysis, design of robust financial model, operational recommendations, and authoring of all deliverables. Gave final client presentations, which resulted in a $300M deal offered to the Smithsonian.  (June 2008 – August 2009)•	Directly responsible for more than $50M in new sales in 1.5 years and breaking the firm into East and Southern Africa, where it had never before conducted international development work. Transformed proposal development into one of the most sought after assignments through empowering leadership style. Supervised core team of 4 and larger team of 50+ to redesign entire business development processes and improving quality of all submissions, account planning, fostering relationships with donors and clients, competitive analysis, brand promotion, and leading major proposals. (May 2007 – August 2009)

Selected to lead business development – youngest in the firm’s history for such a leadership role. Responsible for all business development activities for entire Latin American region. Directed and supervised core team of 5 and larger team of 55. Tracked donor strategies and traveled throughout region to develop strong relationships and networks. Led development of $90 million in new contracts in less than 2 years covering issues as diverse as biodiversity conservation in the Amazon, customs reform in Central America, small business competitiveness in Jamaica, property rights reform in Guyana, as examples.

Led strategic communications for portfolio’s highest visibility and complex programs, in Colombia, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.

Communications Lead

Conducted independent research involving the construction of national memory and identity through cemeteries. Advised public cemeteries in developing cultural tourism programs and beginning historical restoration and preservation of archives and monuments. Presented working paper entitled Eternal Unrest: Negotiating Cultural Heritage in the Cemeteries of Buenos Aires at the “Social Theory, Politics, and the Arts Conference,” a leading international and inter-disciplinary gathering of researchers, policy makers and practitioners actively involved in cultural policy issues.

Fulbright Scholar - Historic Preservation and Cultural Tourism

Managed USAID and IADB funded programs in Guyana and the Dominican Republic Supervised and mentored staff. Wrote technical proposals and developed multi-million dollar cost proposals. As project associate (June 2001 – May 2002) provided administrative, logistical, and financial support for development programs in Nicaragua, Mexico, and Guyana.
