Joy Prabhakaran is a highly experienced and versatile professional with over three decades of work experience in various industries. He is a researcher in Image and Video Technologies and a former consultant at various organizations such as Yahoo, Wipro, TCS, and IIIT-Bangalore. He is also a former professor at KSIT and a visiting professor at IIIT-Bangalore. Prabhakaran completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Image and Video Processing from the International Institute of Information Technology - Bangalore.

He has a rich educational background, including an SSLC from Space Central School, a B.Tech in E&ECE from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and an MS in EE from Michigan Technological University.

His professional experience includes being a founder at Recoplace, a platform dedicated to gathering recommendations about home remedies practiced worldwide, and working as a VP-Engineering at Sourcebits LLC and an Engineering Manager at Celstream Technologies. Prabhakaran is also a former Fellow at Honeywell and a Guest Lecturer at College of Engineering - Trivandrum.

Prabhakaran's research focuses on improving the quality of retinal images of premature babies, using an improved edge detection method he developed. The goal of his research is to enhance the detection of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) when diagnostics is done remotely. The method is undergoing clinical trials in two hospitals.
