Hien Luu is a highly skilled and experienced professional with a passion for big data and machine learning. With over three years of technical leadership experience in managing multiple data infrastructure-related projects, Luu is highly regarded for her ability to design and build big data applications and scalable web-based applications. She also has a passion for architecting highly available and scalable big data applications and systems. In addition, Luu is an instructor at UCSC Extension, where she teaches courses on Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, Spring Framework, Design Patterns, and Java Comprehensive.

As an accomplished speaker, Luu has spoken at various international conferences including QCon (NY, SF, Shanghai, London, AI), Seattle Data Day, ArchSummit, Lucene/Solr Revolution, and Hadoop Summit. Currently, she is the Senior Engineering Manager at DoorDash.

Luu studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington before pursuing an M.S. in Software Engineering at San Jose State University. Her specialties include: big data, web application framework, cloud computing, RESTful web services, and cryptography.
