Melissa Menke is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in public administration, international development, and social entrepreneurship. She holds a Master of Public Administration degree from New York University and a Bachelor's degree from Virginia Tech. Melissa also pursued international studies at Lexia International in Berlin, further expanding her global perspective.
Throughout her career, Melissa has been actively involved in various organizations and initiatives. She currently serves as the Board Chair at Access Afya, a healthcare social enterprise that aims to provide affordable and quality healthcare to low-income communities in Kenya. Her expertise in the field earned her the role of Advisor for the Digital Blacksmiths Initiative at techfortrade. Melissa has also contributed her time and insights as a Board Member of Young Women Social Entrepreneurs-Nairobi Chapter.
Melissa is no stranger to entrepreneurship herself, having founded and served as the CEO of Access Afya. She has been recognized for her innovative solutions and dedication to improving healthcare access in underserved areas. Additionally, Melissa has lent her expertise as a Consultant in emerging markets, lending her strategic insights to various projects.
Prior to her entrepreneurial endeavors, Melissa gained valuable experience in finance and affordable housing. She worked as an Originations-Structured Finance professional at Norddeutsche Landesbank and as a Resident Services-Affordable Housing advocate at Community Housing Partners. Her multifaceted background allowed her to develop a well-rounded skill set and a deep understanding of community development.
Melissa's commitment to public service extends beyond her professional career. She was a Youth Health Development Volunteer with the Peace Corps, showcasing her passion for improving the lives of others.
