Solar Turbines is a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, Inc. (a Fortune 50 company). Solar Turbines designs, manufactures, sells and services mid-range industrial gas turbines, centrifugal compressors and turbo-machinery systems (primarily for the oil and gas industry). Solar currently has over 8,000 global employees, and has been in business since 1927.As an onsite recruiter (working at Solar's headquarters), I was tasked with recruiting a wide range of salaried professionals for managerial, engineering, quality assurance, IT, accounting, supply chain, human resources, security, administrative and production roles. I worked closely with over 50 managers, and was directly responsible for 60+ requisitions at any given time (directly supporting three separate facilities). I attended various company-sponsored job fairs and was responsible for both internal and external hiring processes. I was a member of the ATS implementation team (working initially with their Taleo system, and then their new Kenexa BrassRing applicant tracking system that was fully implemented in October 2014). My role was directly affected by the global decline in oil prices in December 2014, and I was laid off several months later (along with several hundred contractors).
