Alexandra Carvalho is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in project management, data analysis, GIS, and environmental resources management. With a Ph.D. in Oceanography and Coastal Zone Management and a postgraduate certificate in GIS, she has a broad understanding of the technicalities involved in managing coastal and marine resources, conducting feasibility studies, preparing environmental impact reports, and managing water-related permits. Alexandra is an effective coordinator and collaborative partner with private and government clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and engineering and scientific teams. Her expertise includes data management and analysis of environmental, biological, water quality, meteorological, hydrological, hydrographic, navigation, dredging, and permit data. She has comprehensive knowledge of coastal and marine GIS data management & analysis, statistical and geo-statistical data analysis, land-use/land-cover change analysis, integrated and sustainable coastal and marine planning and management, and marine spatial planning.

Alexandra started her career as a Researcher at Laboratorio Maritimo da Guia, where she gained hands-on experience in biological, chemical, and physical oceanographic data collection and analysis. Later, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Division of Marine & Environmental Systems (DMES) at Florida Institute of Technology, where she gained expertise in spatial planning, environmental resource management, and GIS. She then joined Taylor Engineering, Inc. as a Project Scientist, where she managed and coordinated multiple staff, conducted data analysis, and prepared environmental impact reports, and helped clients with public and stakeholder meetings and workshops. She then became a Senior Scientist at Taylor Engineering, Inc., where she was responsible for managing projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and conducting QA/QC of environmental and regulatory compliance data and analysis. Alexandra is now a Principal at CMar Consulting, LLC, where she provides customized consulting services to a broad range of clients.
