Bala Parthasarathy
Bala Parthasarathy, co-founder and former CEO of MoneyTap, is an experienced entrepreneur with a successful track record in international business development, ecommerce and mobile technologies. Parthasarathy graduated from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology with a B.Tech in engineering before going on to complete a Masters degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
He co-founded the successful seed fund, Angelprime, now known as Prime Ventures, where he mentored startups such as Happay, SmartOwner, Synup and HackerEarth. With a passion for using technology to revolutionize consumer lending, Parthasarathy helped build MoneyTap, India’s first app-based credit line, that offers a flexible and affordable borrowing option for the country’s vast middle class. MoneyTap has impacted consumers in over 50 cities, offering a unique credit-line model that has made loans accessible through a few swipes on a smartphone.
Parthasarathy’s expertise in international business development has taken him to 80 countries where he has gained experience in mergers and acquisitions. Fluent in three languages, he brings with him a wealth of operational and technology experience to any organization. Personal interests include travel, hiking, scuba diving and yoga.
