David Montiel
David Montiel, an experienced Research Investigator at the University of Michigan, is a highly skilled and knowledgeable Physicist with expertise in the development and implementation of structural phase-field crystal models for the study of 2D materials. Montiel has vast experience in materials science, particularly in phase-field crystal and phase-field models, epitaxial thin film growth, binary alloys nucleation, and x-ray diffraction analysis. He has years of experience in the implementation of numerical methods in solving governing equations of phase-field and phase-field crystal models, and computer programming in languages such as Fortran, C/C++, and Matlab.
Montiel obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics from McGill University and a Master’s Degree in Physical Chemistry and Engineer’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. In addition, he has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Michigan, McGill University, and McMaster University.
