The production is fully organic and sustainable and includes: blueberry, mulberry, raspberry, strawberry, passion fruit, hardy kiwi (also known as baby kiwi), aromatic herbs, vegetables and other fruits. Processing, storage and sales are held in wooden steel-reinforced housing in the field.

I'm involved in this project as one of the investors and I provide IT knowledge.

DevOps Engineer

A great challenge and chapter in my life with a new client and new technologies, in the realms of hard infrastructure and networking, virtualization, systems, development, project management and governance.

In the first 6 months I've refreshed, evolved and learned new skills on many topics, such as networking and hardware with CheckPoint and FortiNet firewalls, Cisco switches and access points, Cisco UCM/Call Manager, VMWare ESXi and vSphere, EMC VNX storage, and on free and open source software, with Zabbix, Nagios, phpIPAM, Let's Encrypt, Heartbeat, HAProxy, Varnish, NGINX, DRBD, MySQL replication, Dovecot and Postfix, eventually mastering many of these.

These have been applied to a large number of projects in the institution, with a bigger focus on the main corporate project, to which later, I was assigned all my available time.

The main project, Visit Portugal, went through many infrastructure, code and governance change iterations with my interventions over this past year, which fixed or otherwise improved numerous long standing issues: disparities between environments and servers, various performance and stability issues, crashes and corruption of data, inconsistencies, replication issues, and others.

Additionally, many changes were aimed towards improving or creating from ground up: the support for scalability, better security, GDPR compliance, CDN support and other new features. Later we faced another big challenge, which was the migration of the existing 23 servers into a new infrastructure, as part of the consolidation of infrastructure and services in the Portuguese Ministries, and as a result, a major overhaul of the entire project infrastructure and networking.

Work here was done initially as Freelancer till October 2018, and then onwards through my company, Revboot.

Among participation in many small projects, was the core of my work - the Visit Portugal website.
In addition, I was tasked with:
-  Smaller web development projects based on Drupal and Wordpress
-  Management of the Development Infrastructure (GitLab, Microsoft Azure)
-  IT Management encompassing servers, systems and inventory

This position lead me to learn and work with Microsoft Azure Cloud, reinforce knowledge and practices on GitLab and Drupal 7 Development, and learn about Drupal 8 and Wordpress 3.x Development.

From this position, I eventually moved to their client, on request of both entities, to work full time on the Visit Portugal project.

Full-Stack Developer, Automation Architect

I worked through SyOne in Vodafone Portugal, where I was the Drupal Lead, the senior DevOps and a Project Manager.

I was tasked with managing and developing a major 8 year old intranet KB portal based on Drupal 6 and it's infrastructure, which serves about 1200 people in Portugal with content, and many tools and integrations, and interface and negotiate with many surrounding teams and people which consume and provide data and services for this portal.

The first year was spent entirely with diagnosing and investigating the project in it's handover state, creating new high performance systems in a private cloud with load balancing and geographical distribution, migrating the portal from it's old fully customized legacy systems to the newer with much higher performance, and fix all the underlining issues with many of the broken tools and integrations, essentially bringing order to chaos.

The second year was used for developing a newer extranet KB portal based on Drupal 7, to be used across Europe, develop new features for the older portal and tools including a refresh of the reporting system, and perform additional migrations, fixes, documentation, research and testing ​for the portal and the infrastructure.

For the last 6 months of the project, I was also managing a small team partially dedicated to the project, consisting of a newbie developer, a newbie devops and an expert sysadmin, which would latter all inherit the project as I stepped down.

I also gave trainings about Drupal, PHP, Git, GitLab, GlusterFS, Puppet and Docker in both companies, and helped shape the infrastructure and workflows at Vodafone Portugal with​ these.

In turn, I learned a lot about Red Hat and infrastructure technologies.

These two years were a great experience and I saw my commitment and responsibilities grow with many successful achievements and lessons learned from past mistakes.
