Dennis Hartmann
Dennis Hartmann is an accomplished climate scientist and professor with over 140 publications in scientific journals. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Portland and a Ph.D. in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics from Princeton University. With a deep interest in the dynamics of the atmosphere, atmosphere-ocean interaction, and climate change, Hartmann has served as Chair of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington from 2002-2007 and as Interim Dean during the formation of the College of the Environment at UW from 2008-2010. Hartmann's research has earned him numerous accolades, including the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, Fellowship of the American Meteorological Society, the American Geophysical Union, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Haurwitz Memorial Lecturer for the American Meteorological Society, and the Carl Gustav Rossby Research Medal of the American Meteorological Society.
