Michael Ruus

Michael Ruus is an experienced Planning and Development Manager at Cape Breton Regional Municipality with a strong academic background holding a Master's Degree in Planning focused on Community and Regional Planning from Dalhousie University.

With a passion for government administration, Michael has served in various roles including Director of Planning and Development at Cape Breton Regional Municipality and General Manager of Planning and Growth Development at the City of Swift Current.

Michael's educational journey includes studying New Urbanism Accreditation at the University of Miami, a Master of Planning from Dalhousie University, a Certificate in Landscape Design from Ryerson University, and a Bachelor's in Sustainable Resource and Environmental Management from Dalhousie University.

Apart from his professional roles, Michael has been actively involved in community and volunteer work, having served on the Council for the Saskatchewan Professional Planners Institute and volunteered with local organizations such as Kiwanis and Main Street Boards.
