Herbert Schilling
Herbert Schilling, an accomplished Computer Scientist working at NASA, has a rich history in electrical engineering and applied physics. With a Ph.D. and Master's degree from Case Western Reserve University and experience working for TRW/Excello/Textron, Republic Steel/LTV Research Center, and NASA Glenn, Schilling's expertise spans numerical methods, scientific and web programming, visualization, and outreach. As a Team Lead Scientific Computing and Graphics, Schilling provides support for research at NASA with awareness, consulting, and tools in scientific computing, visualization, and data science. Additionally, he is the co-catalyst for the Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics cluster for the biomimicry effort being led by NASA Glenn. Schilling is also part of the OpenMDAO team and supports the Agency AI/ML Strategy Team with his knowledge and custom programming skills. He resides with the principles of showing up, working hard, working smart, keeping learning, being helpful, doing the right thing, and having no ego while inspiring others.
