Erik Nackerud is a registered patent attorney with over 10 years of engineering experience. With a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Lewis and Clark Law School and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Optical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, he brings unique value to his clients by combining his practical engineering expertise and legal knowledge. He is particularly renowned for his technical knowledge in laser, eo-optics, camera, telescope, spectroscopy, machine vision, thin film, optical metrology, and general optic fields. As an engineer, Erik has worked in multi-disciplinary R&D engineering and manufacturing groups, allowing him to gain proficiency in numerous technical disciplines, including mechanical and electrical arts.

Prior to working as a patent attorney at NAKK Patent Law, Erik held various leadership positions in large corporations such as Voxtel Inc. and Coherent Inc. He has also worked as a CEO at Tidal Optics and an optical/application engineer at n&k Technology. With experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, identifying patentable improvements, and working with both internal and external patent counsel, Erik understands the importance of communication during drafting and throughout prosecution.
