The University of Oregon's Prison Education Program offers for-credit and non-credited educational opportunities in four of Oregon's prisons. We have served over 1,000 incarcerated individuals and involved a broad range of UO students and faculty through engaged pedagogy and one-time academic workshops, discussions, and other programs.

Another Look is a nonprofit organization that provides professional photography and storytelling services to nonprofits and service providers. We have already worked with a food bank, a reentry support organization for individuals coming out of prison, an electronics recycling organization, and a summer reading program for under-served elementary school kids. Unmade in Ireland is a photoessay/journalism site that documents the contemporary Irish music scene through the lens of musicians who haven't "made it" yet. It features Gregory Nolan's candid photography of artists in their rehearsal spaces, at "day jobs," in their homes, and performing live. My role is as general project editor and writer. I interview the bands to give voice to their experience as working musicians, delving into their efforts to balance creative ambitions with other life realities. I also ask consistent questions of all musicians, notably "what would it take to make you quit making music?" and "What does 'making it' look like to you?"<a href="http://www.UnmadeInIreland.com">www.UnmadeInIreland.com</a>

I wrote, edited, and project managed BASTILLE: THE BAD BLOOD TOUR. This beautiful hardcover art book features the work of photographer Gregory Nolan, who has documented the band for four years as they've performed in pubs through to winning a 2014 Brit Award and becoming a worldwide sensation. My College Advice

My role as writer/researcher for Noho included script writing, copywriting for audiovisual museum exhibits, historical research, project coordination, social media. Noho creates audiovisual material for cultural heritage centers, post-production materials for TV and film, and for commercial projects. Among my favorite jobs at Noho, I researched and wrote two scripts for Dublinia, Dublin's Viking and Medieval Museum, and worked on the National Library of Ireland's WWI Exhibition. I also ran their blog, twitter, and outreach and helped coordinate projects and manage content.

My Master's in International Human Rights Law was supported by the US-Ireland Alliance through a Mitchell Scholarship. I studied through a cross-border option, meaning that my time was divided between Queen's University in Belfast and the National University of Ireland in Galway. During my time in Belfast, I volunteered with several human rights and incarceration organizations, including the Educational Shakespeare Company (which works on arts and education with incarcerated, previously incarcerated, and people with mental health issues) and with efforts to expand the dialogue on education in prisons. While in Galway, I gave a paper at the Postgraduates in Latin American Studies Conference, and presented at NUIG's summer seminar on Human Rights Migration and Globalization.

I offered tours and talks to prospective students and their families, introducing them to the Honors College facilities and structure. This involved helping students understand the liberal arts ethic of the Honors College, as well as helping them envision their college years, independent undergraduate research opportunities, and the options available through an intimate honors college experience within the larger campus.

Tour Guide

As Activities Coordinator, I worked with visiting students from around the world in organizing cultural activities and educational events around the University of Oregon and further afield. This included work with the Humphrey Fellows--mid-career professionals continuing their education in the United States. In that role, I not only organized hikes, trips to the opera, tours of Eugene and Portland, and other activities, but I also served as a sighted guide for two blind fellows to ensure they had a full and exciting experience as well. As a tutor, I worked one-on-one with AEI students from beginning levels of English through conversational levels. I assisted in classrooms and in improving written and spoken language skills.
