Matt Morrison

Matt Morrison is the Chief Executive Officer of the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER), a public/private partnership established in 1991 by statute in the states of Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon, and the western Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Yukon, and Northwest Territory.

As the CEO of PNWER, Matt Morrison is responsible for coordinating all PNWER projects, reporting to the governing board, and leading initiatives to build the regional economy while enhancing the natural environment.

Under Mr. Morrison's leadership, PNWER has been at the forefront of promoting innovation in the Canada-US border region and has successfully piloted initiatives like the Beyond the Border and Perimeter Security Action Plan.

Matt Morrison has played a crucial role in enhancing economic resilience by organizing critical infrastructure interdependency exercises, tackling gaps in public and private sector vulnerabilities, and mitigating risks to the regional economy through the Center for Regional Disaster Resilience.

One of the notable contributions of Mr. Morrison includes coordinating with the Canadian government on infrastructure and port security matters, conducting cyber security exercises, and collaborating with organizations like the Future Borders Coalition to address border issues and COVID resilience.

Matt Morrison pursued his education at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Michigan before assuming the role of CEO at PNWER.
