Halimah Marcus is an accomplished editor-in-chief and executive director based in New York City. With a Bachelor of Arts in English from Vassar College and a Master of Fine Arts in Fiction from the City University of New York-Brooklyn College, she brings a wealth of literary knowledge and experience to her work.
As the editor-in-chief of Recommended Reading and the executive director of Electric Literature, Halimah is at the forefront of the literary world, promoting emerging and established writers, and curating impactful stories that challenge and engage readers. Her expertise has been honed throughout her career, having previously served as the co-chair of the Fiction Committee at BROOKLYN BOOK FESTIVAL INC and as a development associate for the Prometheus Radio Project.
Halimah's interests lie in promoting underrepresented voices in literature, exploring new and innovative ways to tell stories, and creating impactful and dynamic events that engage and inspire readers. Her debut anthology, HORSE GIRLS, is set to be released through Harper Perennial, showcasing her commitment to fostering the next generation of literary voices.
