ikHerstel (Dutch for I Recover) is an eHealth application (app) developed by healthcare professionals in collaboration with patients. The app provides the patient with a personalized recovery plan and relevant information before and after surgery. It is a "digital personal coach" for the patient during the entire care process, whereby the healthcare professional can remotely monitor the progress of the recovery.
Scientific research has shown that the use of ikHerstel leads to a 5-14 days faster recovery for the patient and lower costs for hospitals. The latest research results have been published in The Lancet and British Medical Journal.
