Jen Pan is an associate professor at Stanford University, specializing in political communication and authoritarian politics. Their research utilizes experimental and computational methods with large-scale datasets to analyze political activity in China and other authoritarian regimes. With a PhD in Government from Harvard University and an A.B. in Public and International Affairs and East Asian Studies from Princeton University, Pan's expertise lies in understanding how autocrats perpetuate their rule, how political censorship, propaganda, and information manipulation work in the digital age, and how preferences and behaviors are shaped as a result. Prior to their current position, Pan was a co-founder of CareerVillage.org and worked as an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company and as an international project manager secondment at the Clinton Foundation.
