Maxim Shcherbakov, PhD, is a renowned researcher and science communicator focused on photonics, nanoscale light-matter interactions, nonlinear and quantum optics, metamaterials, and their applications in AR/XR optics, LiDARs, and autonomous vehicles. With a Master of Science in Physics and a PhD in Laser Physics from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Dr. Shcherbakov has gained vast professional experience over the years.

As a former Research Associate at MSU, he conducted cutting-edge research on nanophotonics and quantum optics, while also serving as a DAAD Exchange Scholar at Friedrich Schiller University Jena and a Research Intern at National Taiwan University. He then transitioned to the private sector, serving as a Deputy Project Lead at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, where he led a team developing advanced optical devices.

Currently, Dr. Shcherbakov is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Cornell University, where he continues his research on light-matter interactions at the nanoscale, metamaterials, and attosecond science. A passionate science communicator, Dr. Shcherbakov mentors students and junior researchers, while also engaging with the public through talks and writing.
