E Ahmed is a renowned Indian politician and a former Member of Parliament from Kerala. He was born on June 1, 1938, in Kozhikode, Kerala. Ahmed became a member of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in the early 1960s and took part in various political movements. He was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly in 1967 and served three terms. He was later elected to the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Indian Parliament) from the Manjeri constituency in 1991, 1996, 1998, 2004, and 2009. Ahmed also served as the Minister of State for External Affairs in the UPA government from 2004 to 2009. He is known for his excellent oratory skills and his advocacy for minority rights.
