His primary research focus is on cancer, delving into proteases to uncover novel diagnostic markers and potential therapeutic targets. Notably, he led the European Union Framework Programme 6 'Cancerdegradome' Project from 2004 to 2008, engaging 41 Partner laboratories across 13 countries.
Dr. Edwards holds a PhD in Biochemistry from UCL and a MA in Natural Sciences with a specialization in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge.
Throughout his illustrious career, he has held key roles at various prestigious institutions. Currently serving as a Professor Emeritus at the University of East Anglia, he previously chaired Cancer Studies, served as the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and led the School at the same university.
Prior to his tenure at the University of East Anglia, Dr. Edwards worked as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary, a Research Associate at Oxford University, and a Postdoctoral fellow at the University of Western Ontario.
