Dusti Gurule
Board Member at Colorado Conservation Voters Education Fund
Dusti Gurule is a prominent figure in Colorado's Latino community, serving as a Commissioner on the Denver Latino Commission since April 2008. She is also the President and CEO of the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR), a role she has held since 2017. COLOR focuses on reproductive justice and aims to empower Latinx individuals and families to lead safe, healthy, and self-determined lives.12
Born in 1969 into an activist family, Gurule's upbringing was heavily influenced by her parents' involvement in the Crusade for Justice, which instilled in her a deep commitment to social justice and community advocacy. She has played a significant role in various initiatives aimed at amplifying the voices of Latinas, including founding the Latina Initiative, which promotes civic engagement and political leadership among Latinas in Colorado.12
Gurule's contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, and she was recently inducted into the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame in 2024. Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Chicano Studies and a master's in Nonprofit Management.23 In addition to her work with COLOR, she serves on the board of the Colorado Conservation Voters Education Fund, further demonstrating her commitment to civic engagement and advocacy.45
