Dushen Chetty is a highly experienced professional with a strong background in leading R&D matrix teams and fostering external partnerships to drive strategic innovation and business development in the pharmaceutical industry.
He has a PhD in Drug Delivery from Rutgers University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar, as well as a pharmaceutical science background from King's College London and a pharmacy degree from Rhodes University.
Throughout his career, Dushen has held key leadership roles at prominent organizations such as Novartis Oncology, The Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, and GSK, where he led various initiatives in oncology, scientific licensing, medicine delivery, and emerging markets R&D.
His expertise lies in matrix leadership, where he spearheaded the development of innovative oncology medicines targeting melanoma, prostate, and urothelial cancers using a variety of therapeutic approaches including radio conjugates, novel devices, oncolytic viruses, small molecules, and immunotherapies.
In addition to his scientific prowess, Dushen also has a solid foundation in business development, driving external innovation by bridging the gap between R&D and business functions.
As a former Associate Professor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Dushen Chetty also has a strong academic background, further enriching his profile as a versatile professional in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector.
