Creative Director, Head of innovation

Koibird is a fun, colourful and confident boutique fashion store with a one physical shop in Marylebone, London and an online site that ships to customers all over the world. As it is a relatively small brand I have been required me to be hands on with all aspects of the creative, from day to day design work through to art direction of ecomm and conception and delivery of seasonal campaigns which, as a experiential brand, would include a complete makeover of our physical store and seasonal branding.

Since May 2019 I have been working as consultant creative director at BURO, an International digital publishing company with well established sites in 5 global markets. BURO had already begun a process to launch  a new London flagship site and needed a creative lead to come on board and work across everything from the design and build of the site itself, to art direction for photo and video shoots, graphic design, brand tone of voice, brand marketing and commercial partnership opportunities.

In February 2019 I joined Gentleman's Journal magazine as a consultant Creative Director to oversee a range of both new and existing ventures that they were working on from traditional publishing, to GStudio – their fully integrated creative agency, a new fashion ecommerce offering and the launch of a pop up boutique in Burlington Arcade.

As Senior Creative Manager at Karen Millen I oversaw the all the creative output, from main campaign through to social, for all international markets and managed a team of 12 people made up of Print/Digital Designers, Copywriters and an internal photography studio.

During my time at Wednesday I was lead Art Director on the agency’s biggest and most profitable account, Lindex.com. Lindex is a Swedish high street fashion brand with 480 stores in Scandinavia, the Baltic States, Russia, Central Europe and the Middle East. They also have two flagship stores in London. 

My remit included concept generation and development of seasonal campaigns across all markets, image creation, brand tonality, creation of brand tools, visual strategy, guidelines, art directing, designing, leading the creative team and directing photo and video shoots in locations such as London, New York, Stockholm and Cape Town. 

I also developed the existing team to the point where I was line managing a team of two art directors, one senior designer and two designers and worked with closely to understand their concerns and needs. This resulted in me taking steps to change working practices so that team members had more ownership over individual projects which was well received by the team and led to better efficiency and less late nights in the office.

Developing concepts and Art Directing both photographic and video shoots in the UK and abroad. I maintain good working relationships with top photographers and stylists, advise on photographic look and feel, branding, typography, video treatments and oversee retouching/post-production. I also designs cross platform elements such as catalogues, lookbooks, POS, online platforms, social media, apps, POS and magazine promotions.
