Drew Thompson

Drew Thompson is an accomplished professional with a diverse background in US-China relations, political risk analysis, and public policy.

He holds a Visiting Senior Research Fellow position at National University of Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, specializing in US-China relations and political risk analysis.

Additionally, Drew works as a part-time senior research scientist at CNA Corporation in Arlington, VA.

His previous roles include serving as the Director for China, Taiwan, and Mongolia at the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs at the Department of Defense.

He has also held positions such as Director of China Studies and Starr Senior Fellow at the Center For The National Interest in Washington, D.C., and National Director of the China-MSD HIV/AIDS Partnership in Beijing.

Drew's extensive experience includes working as the Assistant Director to the Freeman Chair in China Studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and being the President of a Washington, D.C. company with operations in China.

With a strong educational background, Drew studied Chinese language at Beijing University, completed a graduate program at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Chinese and American Studies, and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Asian Studies from Hobart College.

He continued his education by earning an M.A. in Government with a concentration in Homeland Security from Johns Hopkins University in 2004.
