William FCOphth

Dr. William Mapham MBChB FCOphth is a highly specialized professional with expertise in mHealth, Ophthalmology, Rural Health, Health and Development Communication, and Advocacy.

Dr. Mapham pursued his education in the medical field, studying Ophthalmology and completing an Ophthalmology Residency Program at Stellenbosch University/Universiteit Stellenbosch. He also obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Cape Town.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mapham has held various significant roles, including serving as the CEO at Vula Mobile. Prior to this position, he worked as an Ophthalmology Registrar at Stellenbosch University and held Ophthalmology Medical Officer positions at several hospitals such as Port Elizabeth Provincial Hospital, Uitenhage Hospital, and Good Shepherd Hospital Eye Clinic. Additionally, he served as the Director of Communications and Advocacy at Reproductive Health & HIV Research Unit (RHRU) and as a Series Manager at Soul City.
