Dr. Dhanpat Ram Agarwal is a highly respected expert in Indian tax laws, intellectual property rights (IPR) laws, and auditing. He is also a dedicated Economic Policy Analyst.
Dr. Agarwal is the visionary behind the Global Intellectual Property Convention (GIPC), which he conceptualized and initiated international collaborations for in 2007. The GIPC has grown to become the world's largest intellectual property symposium, attracting global recognition since its annual inception in 2009.
With extensive experience and expertise, Dr. Agarwal offers consultancy services to major entities such as IOCL Ltd., India's largest company. His consultancy covers a wide range of areas including innovation process management, prior art searches, IP valuations, patent prosecution, copyrights and trademark litigation, and more. He has provided services to renowned international clients like Suzuki Corp, Panasonic, and Calpis.
Dr. Agarwal's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy with Honours from St. Xavier's College under Calcutta University, an LLB with a focus on Civil and Criminal Laws from the University of Calcutta, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics from North Bengal University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Agarwal has held key positions in various organizations. He is the Founding Director of ITAG Business Solutions Ltd. and has been a Former Member of the Organizing Committee at The Indian Organization for Rare Diseases (I-ORD). He served as an Independent Director at Andrew Yule & Company Ltd., Founder Director at Global IP Convention (GIPC), Director at Barak Valley Cements Ltd., and Founding Director at Institute of International Trade, among other significant roles.
Dr. Agarwal's professional journey also includes being a Partner at Agarwal Maheswari & Co. Chartered Accountants and serving as a Member of the Advisory Committee at the Indian National Bar Association. His valuable contributions have extended to the Public Finance Committee at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, where he was a Former Member.
Furthermore, Dr. Agarwal gained practical experience during his early career, working as an Industrial Trainee at Tata Steel and a Trainee at TCI XPS.
