Having spent 3 years establishing HALE.life and HALE Sports, Doug's experience is not only limited to founding these entities but also includes a significant tenure as a venture investor.

Prior to founding HALE in 2017, Doug served for 16 years as a venture investor with Harris & Harris Group in NYC, where he eventually held the positions of Chairman and CEO from 2009 to 2017.

A notable aspect of his venture investment career was being at the forefront as the first institutional investor in companies derived from University research, showcasing his strong eye for innovative and promising opportunities.

Before transitioning to venture investing, Doug managed a diverse portfolio of intellectual property in the realms of chemistry, physics, and bioengineering at the University of Utah's Technology Transfer Office for six years, enriching his understanding of technology commercialization.

With 4 years of experience as a CFO and 8 years as a CEO of a publicly traded Sarbanes-Oxley compliant 1940 Act Investment Company, Doug brings a wealth of financial acumen and regulatory knowledge to the table, making him well-versed in navigating the complexities of operating in a regulated environment.

His expertise encompasses early-stage company development, intellectual property management, university technology transfer, and venture capital investments, bolstered by his tenure as the CEO of a Nasdaq listed company, highlighting his ability to lead and drive growth in publicly traded entities.

Doug pursued his academic endeavors by studying Economics for his M.S. at the University of Utah and completing his B.A. at Dartmouth College, showcasing his commitment to continuous learning and academic excellence.
