Don Mitchell

Don Mitchell is a retired faculty member from Middlebury College, who delved into managing and enhancing aspects of Treleven Farm post his retirement in 2009.

His current endeavors include working on various new writing projects, notably a book titled 'FLYING BLIND: One Man's Adventures Battling Buckthorn, Making Peace with Authority, and Creating a Home for Endangered Bats.'

The book explores the relationship between humans and the natural world, showcasing his profound interest in environmental conservation and wildlife preservation.

Don's passion project involves enhancing habitats for endangered bats within the forests on Treleven Farm, a venture that reflects his long-standing dedication to ecological sustainability.

In addition to his literary pursuits, he offers guided tours of the 'bat zones' at the farm, inviting visitors to experience the enhanced habitat firsthand.

With a background in Philosophy from Swarthmore College and experience as a Lecturer in English and Film at Middlebury College, Don Mitchell's expertise spans academia, farming, writing, and environmental activism.
