Diane Finegood

Diane Finegood is a renowned leader in public and not-for-profit health research sectors with decades of expertise in research leadership, partnership building, and knowledge translation. Finegood has a Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Southern California, an MSc in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Northwestern University, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan. Her extensive international reputation and fondness for innovative ways of leading research programs have been noteworthy. Over the years, she has built complex partnerships on national, provincial, and local levels, advocating for the importance of discovery, research, and new knowledge to tackle complex health challenges.

Before she became the Executive Director at the Canadian Health Services and Policy Research Alliance, Finegood had served as the President & CEO at the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, the Convenor at Building Trust Initiative, Scientific Director at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and Associate Professor at the University of Alberta. Finegood has also been a fellow of the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue at Simon Fraser University and have worked as a professor for both the Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology and the Semester in Dialogue at Simon Fraser University. She communicates science for the real world and inspires excellence and accomplishment among her team and colleagues.
