Slava Akhmechet is a highly experienced software developer, startup advisor, and entrepreneur. He is the founder of RethinkDB, a software company that specializes in creating databases that benefit from solid-state disks and flash storage. He is also a first-year Ph.D. student in Computer Science at Stony Brook University but on hiatus. Slava's specialties encompass programming languages, compilers, non-relational database management systems, user interface design, and many other areas of software development and computer science.

Slava Akhmechet studied at Stony Brook University, where he earned his B.S. in Computer Science and his Ph.D. in Computational Biology. He worked as a Software Development Engineer at Reuters and MarketAxess before founding RethinkDB as CEO in 2009. He later served as the Product & Engineering at Stripe, and Startup Advisor, where he shared his knowledge and expertise with emerging businesses.
