Jennifer Knight
Jennifer Knight, an associate professor at the University of Colorado, has a vast background in biology education. Her group has made significant contributions to improving undergraduate biology education through several projects. With her involvement in designing concept assessment tools, her group has developed tools to measure learning gains and diagnose student misunderstandings in typical undergraduate biology courses. Furthermore, through programmatic-level assessments and attitudes assessment, her group has measured progress across different majors and studied faculty use of active learning tools. After broadening her research, she is currently focused on understanding how students engage in complex problem-solving and scientific reasoning in genetics and introductory level CURE labs. In past years, she was instrumental in faculty development, where she directed the Mountain West Regional National Academies Summer Institute on Undergraduate Education in Biology for five years (2010-2015) and participated in other regional institutes. She is also a fellow in CU's Center for STEM Learning.
