    Derek Van Ee is the President of Van Ee Engineering Inc. and has held this position since March 2015.3 He is also the Vice President of Engineering at Steelcon Fabrication, a position he has also held since March 2015.3 In his youth, Van Ee enjoyed building things and solving problems, which made a career in civil engineering a natural fit for him.1 He holds degrees from the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto.1

    Van Ee has been actively involved with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) Lake Ontario Chapter for the past 15 years, holding positions such as vice chair, chair, and past chair.1 His contributions include setting up joint events between PEO and the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, developing the chapter's website, and improving communication with chapter members.1 Derek is also dedicated to promoting engineering to students and started the Durham Popsicle Bridge Competition in 2006, which has become a signature event during National Engineering Month.1

    For his commitment to the profession, PEO inducted Derek Van Ee as a Member of the Professional Engineers Ontario Order of Honour.12
