Derek Pieper
International Development Policy Specialist
Derek Pieper is an accomplished individual with a strong background in environmental studies and policy.
He holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Change & Management from the renowned University of Oxford, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with distinction from the University of Guelph.
Derek has gained valuable experience working with prestigious organizations, including the UNDP where he currently serves as a Corporate Governance Specialist.
His past roles at the UNDP include Policy Specialist in the Executive Office and Small Island Developing States Programme Officer.
Prior to his time at the UNDP, Derek worked as an Adviser in Climate Change Conference Officer at the Permanent Mission of Grenada to the United Nations.
He has also contributed to research as a Research Intern at the Environmental Change Institute in Oxford and as a Climate Policy Analyst in Canada.
His academic involvement includes serving as an Executive and Academic Commissioner at the Central Student Association and as an NSERC Research Assistant at the University of Guelph.
