Derek 'Diesel' Sarney

Derek 'Diesel' Sarney is a well-rounded professional with a wealth of experience in law enforcement, leadership, management, and military service. With a degree in Leadership and Management from the University of Otago and studies in Management at the Institute of Development Studies in Massey University, he has a solid academic background. Derek's professional experience includes time spent in various roles within the New Zealand Police, the New Zealand Army, and as a Diplomatic Protection Officer. During his tenure in the police and the army, Derek honed his skills in firearms training, tactics, personal protection, security driving, and leadership, to name a few. Derek served as a Tactical Operator for the Special Tactics Group, a Team Leader for the same group, and a Senior Weapons Instructor, among other roles. He is currently working as a Practice Leader for Advanced Skills within the New Zealand Police. With his significant experience and education, Derek has emerged as a leader who can handle high-pressure situations while executing responsibilities to the letter.
