Denise Mei Yan Hofmann, born in Hong Kong to a mixed Swiss and Chinese heritage, had a diverse upbringing across Seoul, Bangkok, Istanbul, and Hong Kong. She delved into guitar at age 10, particularly drawn to jazz and instrumental rock. After graduating from Middlebury College with a B.A. in 19th Century Chinese history, Denise decided to pursue her passion for music and composition. She furthered her education by obtaining her M.M. from Mannes College of Music, studying under the guidance of Lowell Liebermann. Denise’s compositions have graced prestigious venues like the National Opera Center, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, and Spectrum in NYC, the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore, amongst others. She has also displayed her talent internationally at events like the Hong Kong New Music Festival and the International Dance Festival in Bangkok. Notable achievements include arranging 'Georgia on my Mind' for the Johnny Rodgers Band, performed by the Moscow Symphony string section, and creating music for various theatre productions. Denise's work was recognized with a residency at Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts and the Mannes College Dean’s Award.
