Deirdre Black

Deirdre Black is the Head of Research and Innovation at the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), a position she has held since January 2018. She has worked in postdoctoral positions in the USA and the UK, including a notable tenure at Project 2061, a science education policy unit at the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, D.C..12 Since joining the RSC in 2011, she has been actively involved in horizon-scanning to identify trends in fundamental science and their applications to global challenges.13

In addition to her primary role, Deirdre Black serves on the Board of the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry, where she contributes to discussions on sustainability within the chemical sector.
