Deen Freelon

Deen Freelon is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in academia and research. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at UNC Hussman and Principal Researcher at UNC CITAP, he is deeply involved in the fields of politics, #rstats, #python, #opensource, and data analysis.

Freelon pursued his academic journey at prestigious institutions, including achieving a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Communication and Media Studies and a Master of Arts (MA) in the same discipline from the University of Washington. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from Stanford University.

His tenure includes being a Presidential Professor of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an Assistant Professor at American University.
