Declan Devane is a well-known Professor of Midwifery and an experienced researcher in randomised trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. He holds the chair in Midwifery and is the Deputy Dean of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at NUI Galway. His work focusses on maternity care, clinical trials, and evidence synthesis. He has published over 215 papers, including a number of Cochrane systematic reviews, and has been awarded over €8 million in research funding as a Principal Investigator. Declan also serves on a number of national and international committees, including the National Maternity Strategy Steering Group and the National Clinical Effectiveness Committee.
